The partnership of Ceeds of Peace, the Institute for Climate & Peace, Waiwai Collective, Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities, and We Are Oceania presents its first in a series of events to explore the intersection of climate change and peace.

The goal of the series is to inspire and empower diverse communities to learn and share more about climate change impacts on our islands and build bonds that will help us navigate the social and cultural changes we are experiencing.

In support of our mahi ʻai and loko iʻa, kalo, limu, and other foods that are core to our island cultures and dependent on healthy environments will be shared so we can “taste” what the impacts of climate change threaten.

This first event was inspired by a key question: How can we in Hawaiʻi be more accepting, compassionate, and peaceful partners and hosts to our neighbors and newer migrants from Micronesia, whose homes are imperiled due to climate change? At this gathering we aim to create a safe space to address community tension and questions, and assert our collective power as navigators--to take action to create shared and peaceful futures on our own terms.
