This book is part of the Courage Foundation’s #WeAreMillions, an arts project demonstrating the global support for WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange as he fights extradition to the United States. The Trump Administration wants to prosecute Assange for publishing U.S. government documents in 2010 that exposed war crimes, previously uncounted civilian casualties, and human rights abuses. If the prosecution is successful he will spend the rest of his life in prison, and journalists around the world will be at risk.

WE ARE MILLIONS aims to convey the breadth of recognition that Assange’s persecution represents a threat to journalistic freedom and whistle-blowing everywhere.

Speakers:

Angela Richter is a German theatre director and author. In recent years, Richter’s performances—including her Transmedia Project “Supernerds”—have explored topics such as digital mass surveillance, whistleblowing and digital dissidents. For these projects she has worked together with WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange.

Ben Cohen is the Co-Founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. More recently, Cohen also founded Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities; TrueMajority; and StampStampede.org, a movement to amend the constitution and get money out of politics.

Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and a bestselling author, whose books include Empire of Illusion; Death of the Liberal Class; War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning; Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt; and Wages of Rebellion.
