Description

Ethics In Tech is All Ears!

Attend Ethics In Technology’s Community Night and Comedy Show.

The goal of our event is to get feedback from the community and from ethics experts on how to run Ethics In Technology as an effective and impactful organization. Ethics In Technology’s board of directors will be present to hear from experts such as Dr. Kimberly Connor and the larger community on how to run our organization and the community is invited to provide insight and feedback.

We want to hear about issues that you would like us to cover on our EthicsInTech.com website and blog and at our future events. This is your chance to help shape Ethics in Technology. What issues are important to you that you feel we should address, what do you think our priorities should be for the short and long term, and how can we be the most effective?

Panel Participants:

Kimberly Rae Connor holds a Ph.D. in religion and literature from the University of Virginia. She is the author of Conversions and Visions in the Writings of African American Women (Tennessee, 1994) and Imagining Grace: Liberating Theologies in the Slave Narrative Tradition (Illinois, 2000), as well as edited volumes and articles related to African American religious life and cultural production and multicultural and Ignatian pedagogy. Connor is the Secretary of the Board for the American Academy of Religion. Lawyer and Comedian Arthur Gaus will be on Stage!

Arthur Gaus is a standup comic based out of San Francisco where he is a local fixture at the Punchline and Cobb's. Over the better part of 20 years he has been fortunate enough to open for tremendous comics like John Oliver, John Mulaney and Brian Regan at really wonderful comedy clubs, beautiful theaters, stylish underground venues and crappy casinos all over the country. Using his distinctive energetic delivery, he combines observations, stories and biting social commentary while weaving in and out of characters to create a style of comedy that is as whip-smart and unique as it is hilarious. Arthur is also the creator and co-host of the Maniac Bowl alt-comedy show in San Francisco.

Comedian Alicia Dattner did her first standup set at age 18. She graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in standup comedy and filmmaking, and now teaches workshops in comedy and speaking. Mentored by several talented comedians over the years, including W. Kamau Bell (HBO, FX), Eugene Mirman (Flight of the Conchords), and Bill Santiago (Huffington Post, CNN, Comedy Central), she’s been knocking the tube socks off audiences at clubs like The Improv and Gotham Comedy Club, playing in San Francisco, New York, London, Hollywood, Honolulu, Bali, and Bombay.
