Location

Description

The Gordie Howe International Bridge project will bring many benefits to the region, and some of these will be captured through a formal community benefits plan to be delivered by the private-sector partner that will be selected through the P3 procurement process. To bring together the Proponents participating in the P3 procurement process and not-for-profit and community organizations currently providing supports to the Windsor and Detroit areas, WDBA will host two networking events. Contacts made at the events may lead to future meetings and possible community benefit partnerships between the Proponents and those in attendance. These meetings do not offer procurement opportunities for private-sector businesses. Attendance is restricted to community agencies and non-profit organizations providing services or located in Windsor-Essex or the Greater Detroit Area. For-profit organizations or private individuals are not eligible to attend.

WDBA has mandated that a comprehensive Community Benefits Plan be formulated and delivered by the private-sector partner with stringent oversight by WDBA. Through consultation undertaken by WDBA and Michigan, residents, business owners and community leaders on both sides of the border have conveyed that local workforce and training strategies, construction impact and operation mitigation measures, and regional economic and community development opportunities are amongst the top priorities for communities. WDBA has listened and as part of their proposals, the Proponents will be charged with developing Community Benefits Plans that address these regional priorities.

Advance registration is required to attend the Community Group-to-Business meetings. Attendance is restricted to community agencies and non-profit organizations providing services or located in Windsor-Essex or the Greater Detroit Area. For-profit organizations or private individuals are not eligible to attend. Organizations may attend one or both events but must register for each. Attendance is limited to two representatives per organization and will be awarded on a first registered, first reserved basis. Onsite registration will not be available. WDBA reserves the right to waitlist or reduce the number of representatives per organization pending registration response.
