Artist Talk and Walk
Wednesday 19 October 2011, 6.30pm to 8.00pm
Go behind the scenes of city-wide interactive game The Visitor and join Invisible Flock for an artist-led evening walk around Bradford.
Created especially for the Ways of Looking festival, The Visitor is an interactive artwork that goes beyond the gallery walls and can be experienced directly through your own mobile phone. To create the game Invisible Flock mined the history of the city, its relationship to film and photography, its communities and its architecture to weave a new set of experiences for audiences using cutting-edge technologies, exploring in particular how Bradford's illustrious past at the centre of the wool trade has influenced the city of today.
This Artist Talk and Walk will give you a taste of the four different routes within the game and is a great opportunity to find out more about the making of this ambitious work.
Beginning at Impressions Gallery with a warming cup of mulled wine and a short introduction, Invisible Flock will then lead you out on a walk around the city centre. This tour will last around an hour and will visit four locations including the Midland Hotel and Bradford Cathedral, where each of the routes in the game will be introduced in turn. At each location you will be invited to ‘call in’ from your mobile phone and listen to a special extract from the game.
After the walk join us for a pint of Ways of Looking ale at official festival bar The Sparrow where the artists will be happy to chat and answer your questions.
To enjoy the full experience please bring a charged mobile phone and be prepared for autumnal weather.
Booking enquiries call 01274 737843.
You can play the full adventure for free throughout the Ways of Looking festival, available daily from 11am to 4pm (except Mondays), click here to read more.
