An outdoor adventure for children with SEND* and their families
Join Wayfinder Calderdale CIC for our monthly Wayfinder Wanders – calming, creative outdoor sessions designed with neurodivergent children and their families in mind.
For October's walk, we will have a Halloween adventure in the great outdoors! We’ll wander through the reserve spotting spider webs, collecting autumn treasures, and using what we find to create spooky-but-beautiful Halloween Nature Art.
We’ll finish with a sweet treat for every child — a cosy, nature-filled way to celebrate Halloween together! There’ll be time afterwards to unwind and chat at the Cromwell Bottom Café, with drinks and refreshments available by donation.
This event is designed for children with SEND, including autistic and ADHD children, and is sibling-friendly. It’s a relaxed, inclusive, low-pressure environment where families can enjoy time in nature and connect with others who get it.

What to Bring and Wear
- Dress for the weather (layers and waterproofs if needed)
- Bring a drink with you
- Wear sensible footwear such as walking boots or sturdy trainers
- We’ll go ahead rain or shine — that’s part of the fun! Shelter is available at the café if we need it.
- We love our furry friends, but we ask that you please leave them at home for this walk.
Accessibility
We welcome all needs and abilities. There are several routes available at Cromwell Bottom, including a fully accessible option, and we’ll adjust the walk to suit the group on the day. The walk will be around 1–2 miles depending on needs.
Please let us know about any access requirements when booking — we’re here to make it work for you.
Whilst siblings are welcome, this event may not be suitable for very young children or those in pushchairs. We are happy to chat and make arrangements for you if needed, though! Just get in touch.
Café & Toilets
Walks start and finish at the Cromwell Bottom Café, where toilets and cover are available. Drinks and light refreshments are available from the café by donation (cash preferred).
