Description

Are you nervous about starting your course in Canvas? Are you worried it might be a lot of work? Well, you are not alone! The Office of Education Innovation is with you.

This workshop is for Watts College faculty and is designed to help you move course materials from Blackboard to Canvas, ASU’s new course management system. The workshop will briefly address access, course requests, and navigation, but the primary focus will be importing and uploading content, creating assignments, and common migration issues.

To prepare for this workshop, you should have BOTH a Canvas course shell and a Blackboard course that is ready to migrate.


Audience

This workshop is intended for new and intermediate Canvas users whose courses are ready to transition from Blackboard to Canvas.

Objectives

By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:

  • Successfully access Canvas.
  • Describe and navigate the components of the global navigation and course navigation menu.
  • Add and modify content to Canvas modules.
  • Add and modify assignments.
  • Communicate with your students using Announcements, Inbox, and Discussions.
  • Using the Gradebook and Speedgrader.

Can I attend this training online?

You can! We will be streaming the meeting using Zoom. Details will be emailed out closer to the event.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

University Center is very convenient to Valley Metro bus and light rail transportation. The building is directly across the street from Central Station with multiple bus routes and the Central/Van Buren light rail stop.

If you are driving, you are responsible for finding your own parking. There are several pay parking and parking metters surrounding the downtown campus.
