On Saturday, June 6 at 8 a.m. join Dr. Kenneth Schmidt, an avian behavioral ecologist, for a walk in the Wappinger Creek watershed. Schmidt will provide insight into resident and migratory birds and the science of soundscapes.
A visiting scientist at the Cary Institute, Schmidt is a professor at Texas Tech University. For several field seasons, he has led a research team investigating how songbirds use environmental cues to avoid predators, select habitats, and make breeding decisions.
The program will meet in the main campus parking area located at 2801 Sharon Tpk., Millbrook, New York. Space is limited. We will begin promptly at 8 a.m.
Wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes, and bring drinking water and binoculars. Heavy rain cancels the event.
