Event description

Description

Water marbling was first seen in Japan in the early 12th century. Known as shuminagashi and was a closely guarded secret. It disappeared after Genghis Khan Burnt the Library in Alexandria. In the 1400's Turkish artists began to use the same techniques and added flowers and animals. Later this art went to Indonesia as Batik. Then traveled to eastern Europe. The art faded out and is now in a resurgence.
