Watering Hole Seminar: Mapping Diasporic Identity

Join us for an interdisciplinary event exploring how artists, scholars, and technologists use storytelling, mapping technologies, and data visualization to investigate the nuances of diasporic identity, migration, and belonging. Through the fusion of personal narrative and geospatial tools—like GPS, GIS, satellite imagery, and social media—this event highlights the power of human stories in shaping our understanding of displacement and resilience.

This multi-part event will include a special tour of the Crow Museum of Asian Art, talks from guest speakers, including Caroline B. Brettell, University Distinguished Professor of Anthropology Emerita at Southern Methodist University, and a Q&A.
