Description

Working Gene Stratton-Porter's Wildflower Woods in Rome City, IN, workshop participants will create narrative watercolor paintings inspired by her poetry. Artist Rebecca Stockert will walk participants through the process of creating an illustration using visual references directly from Gene’s garden and from photographs. Participants will read Gene Stratton-Porter’s poem “A Limberlost Invitation” and create a skunk watercolor painting. The painting will be inspired by the poem and Stockert’s own Skunk painting. This workshop is made possible by a grant through the Indiana Arts Commission’s Arts in the Parks program.

WEATHER: Due to the weather forecast, the class will be held indoors at the Carriage House.

Cost: $10; all class fees are donated to the Gene Stratton-Porter Historic Society, Inc.

Ages: 13 years+

Supplies: Feel free to bring lunch or a snack. All other supplies will be provided.

Attendees also recieve a coupon for a free adult tour of the cabin.
