Description

The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment and the Devil’s River Conservancy (DRC) will host a free discussion, “Water Talk: Groundwater Management in Val Verde County,” on Saturday, July 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Whitehead Memorial Museum to provide insight about groundwater management in Val Verde County.

State Representative Poncho Nevarez will provide opening remarks, followed by a groundwater-focused presentation by The Meadows Center's Chief Water Policy Officer, Robert Mace. Discussions will focus on efforts to preserve groundwater as well as water-related issues facing residents in the region. The Devils River Conservancy will also debut a 3D visualization of the Devils RiverDevils River Surface Water – Groundwater Integrated Model, which will provide insight into the intricate world of water in Val Verde County. Following the panel discussion, all are invited to attend the reception where there will be refreshments and snack foods.

In conjunction with the event, The Meadows Center will host the traveling exhibit, Our Desired Future, at the Whitehead Memorial Museum until July 21. The exhibit examines the interconnections between water above and below ground and combines photos, stories and first-of-its-kind maps to help Texans understand where their water comes from and how the state’s water resources can be managed for long-term viability.
