Environment and Health Council of Louisiana

Announces Free Public Water Management Conference

(BATON ROUGE, La.)—The Environment and Health Council of Louisiana is hosting their annual conference Nov. 2, 2017 at the Pennington Conference Center. This year’s conference focuses on water management and how it relates to Louisiana.

Each year the E&HCL hosts a conference in support of their mission to provide factual discussions based on issues related to Louisiana. Following the August 2016 flood, the E&HCL decided a focus on water management was a pertinent topic that impacted many in Louisiana.

The Water Management conference is an information transfer forum that provides updates on urgent water management topics. Agency representatives, legislators and members of the community are encouraged to attend. The conference is free and open to the public.

Guest speakers include WAFB’s Jay Grymes, chief meteorologist, State Health Officer and Medical Director of the Louisiana Department of Health Dr. Jimmy Guidry and Justin Ehrenwerth, president and CEO of the Water Institute of the Gulf

Additional speakers include Dr. Frank Tsai from the LSU College of Engineering, Lacy McManus, director of program development at Greater New Orleans, Inc., Mark Davis from Tulane University Law School and Dr. Matthew Reonas from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources.

The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns at 2 p.m. The first 200 guests to register before October 30, 2017 receive a free lunch courtesy of Jason’s Deli. All interested individuals can register for the conference on the E&HCL website at www.ehcla.org

The Environment and Health Council of Louisiana is a nonprofit organization founded in 1983 to facilitate independent, balanced and factual assessments of health issues related to the environmental and economic well-being of Louisiana. The organization is governed by a voluntary board of directors from various industries across the state. For more information about the E&CHL, visit www.ehcla.org.
