Water in the Learning Garden: Resilience and Cultivating a Sense of Place

This experiential workshop will use water and garden-based science lessons and activities to learn and understand systems, STEM, and conservation. The Water for Life Science Handbook and Hawai‘i School Garden Curriculum Map will guide the exploration.
Participants will learn about the hydrology of Hawai‘i Island, the properties and science of water, practice water-sensitive gardening methods to prevent erosion and soil runoff, understand the role of water in building community climate resilience, and be prepared to apply the knowledge at their schools.
