Great Expectations for Building Systems: Building Systems Commissioning – New and Existing Buildings

Wick Fisher White President, Tony DiLeonardo, will give an overview of the commissioning process for new and existing buildings. During the presentation, he will review the types of commissioning, as well as the tasks involved in this evolving sector. The seminar will identify the phases and tasks in the commissioning process along with the correct terminology as noted in ASHRAE and the Building Commissioning Association.

In relation to new building commissioning Tony will give a brief overview of the OPR, design review, specifications, pre-functional checklists, functional performance testing procedures, issues log, and final report. In addition, he will address what the owner should expect as a deliverable. You will learn about the benefits of new building commissioning, why it is vitally important on every project and should be considered as a part of the design and construction process.

In existing buildings, more owners, facility managers and building operators are looking for ways to optimize their systems, decrease utility and maintenance costs. However, most of their time is spent trying to maintain and repair building systems that should be working properly, but over time has deteriorated. Tony will guide attendees through each phase of the existing building commissioning process, based on BCxA Best Practices and other industry resources. He will also show how this process can be implemented into a facility's annual routine in an effort to improve building maintenance and operation.

Tony Will touch on the Commissioning Requirements now present in the 2015 and 2018 International Energy Conservation Code.
