Synopsis: Avraham is ten years old when his life changes forever. After Nazis arrive in his hometown of Vienna, Austria, his parents send him to the Netherlands. But the invading German army soon follows. During the ensuing war-torn years, Avraham braves harrowing captures, daring escapes, torturous hiding, and heartbreaking losses. Yet he also experiences the goodness of humanity through the strangers who help him.
Based on Avraham’s #1 bestselling autobiography, this inspirational documentary is more than just a remarkable story of survival—it’s a testament to human kindness, even in the darkest of hours, and to the achievements made possible through relentless perseverance.
With this commemoration of Yom Ha'Shoah, we will honor local hero, Dr. Avraham Perlmutter, the 93 year old survivor, who is a long-time Santa Monica resident.
In partnership with American Society for Yad Vashem, Holocaust Museum LA, Holland Hollywood Connection, the Kindertransport Association, Valley Beth Shalom, Chabad North of Montana and Chabad of Pacific Palisades.
