About this event

Verizon recently launched “Small Business Digital Ready,” an integrated and customized, online curriculum to support diverse small businesses at no cost to the users. It’s part of our Citizen Verizon commitment to helping businesses succeed in the digital economy by providing resources to help one million small businesses thrive by 2030. This program will provide access to critical information and resources as small business embark on the road to recover after facing extreme economic challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Small businesses are an anchor for the US economy and employed over 60 million people, or more than 47% of the private workforce, in 2017. The pandemic had a devastating effect on small businesses and the workers they employed. 41% of Black owned business closed due to the pandemic - more than double the rate of white owned businesses. 8/10 Black business owners report feeing financially vulnerable, even after receiving federal relief funding How will small business navigate the road to recovery? What resources are available to them?

The purpose of this event is to introduce USBC’s audience to Small Business Digital Ready and our partners LISC and Next Street who are facilitating the program. The program was developed for small business owners and provides personalized learning content through brief information-packed lessons small businesses can use right away. Expert business guidance, marketing, business planning, legal, and peer networking all help build connections for small businesses. We will show business leaders attending how they can utilize these resources and empower small businesses and their employees with resources to aid in the recovery.
