Event description

Description

Welcome to Washburne! You are required to attend this mandatory Washburne Culture and Connection session where you will learn about the culture of the Institute as well as college and industry expectations. We take education seriously and you should too; this is the first step in your journey to becoming a hospitality professional.

You are committing to being at school up to 4 days a week for your first semester. This orientation will set the tone for your upcoming sixteen weeks and is packed with activities, workshops and information you will need to know to be a successful student. You need to be on time to orientation. Lateness is not tolerated in classes – you need to be on time every day including for this orientation.

Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes as there will be a team building activity in the kitchen.

Topics for session include

· discussions on what it means to be a hospitality professional

· classroom expectations and policies

· a workshop on resume preparation and Career Network

· team working in the kitchen

· student services

Other notable points about Washburne session:

· Refreshments will be served.

· Raffles for prizes!

Please note: Students enrolled in Washburne are being trained to enter the workforce so all classes are rigorous with an emphasis on what the industry expects from graduates of our program and to ultimately enter the hospitality industry.

If you are signing up to be a recreation cook or baker, know that you will be expected to work at the same pace and within the same expectations of those who plan on making culinary, baking and pastry or hospitality a career.
