Wanderway: A hands-on workshop exploring creative digital engagement
Fri, April 28, 2017, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM CDT
Join us for this FREE one-day workshop designed to help small cultural organizations, artists, and creative small businesses explore creative and sustainable digital engagement. The goals of the workshop are to provide encouragement, build confidence, and offer useful tools and know-how that enable participants to connect with, engage, involve, and serve more people in the ever-evolving online environment. Our workshop is designed with the resource-strapped in mind, and will address the emotional and ethical aspects of digital engagement, not merely the practical. Come away with new skills, new insights, and new friends and colleagues.
Our workshop focuses on engagement and relationship-building. It aims to help participants expand their reach and develop the capacity for substantive interactions with fans, allies, and collaborators. We believe that transformative possibilities are available to those who overcome their fear of digital technology and commit to the process of learning new tools and new ways to connect.
The workshop draws from the online resource Wanderway, guiding participants through hands-on exercises, reflections, and small group discussions. Participants will leave the workshop with ideas and tools that can be revisited often and shared with other colleagues.
Workshop topics will include:
Facing the fear of beginning something new and ever-changing
Listening to audiences and expanding your reach to new people
Cultivating your online voice
Thinking about what you and your organization have to share with others, your strengths and assets
Exploring available media channels
Developing habits for content planning, creation, and sharing
Understanding the impact of your digital engagement, including the impact on yourself.
Participants will leave with a deepened awareness of existing platforms and audience expectations as well as a clear set of next steps for honing organizational voice, planning online engagement, and cultivating meaningful connections with audiences online.
The workshop, course materials, refreshments and lunch are free but require pre-registration. Plentiful free parking. Space is limited.
