WAMerlot Twitter Tasting
Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (PDT)
Objective: Promote awareness of Washington Merlot; Send a unified message about Washington wine; Promote Washington wine tourism.
When: Thursday, March 25 5-7PM PT / 8-10PM ET (If you can't join right at 5pm, don't worry people will be tweeting and chatting about wine well into the night!)
How to Participate?
Wine Drinkers: Find Washington Merlot, drink it, tweet about it (use #WAMerlot hashtag)
Locate a Washington Merlot, hop on to Twitter (using TweetDeck will make it easier). As you’re tasting track the #WAMerlot tweets in a search column and tweet away. You can tweet from home, a local winery, a wine bar, or a restaurant (just make sure you’re drinking a Washington Merlot). Through the night, you’ll be able to see what everyone is saying about #WAMerlot, you may even connect with other wine lovers enjoying the same bottle you are!
Many wineries may be offering sales on their Merlot for this event. Keep eyes on Twitter for good deals leading up to the event. Support your local merchant and winery.

Wineries: Use the #WAMerlot hashtag to follow the event and connect, socialize and interact with wine lovers around the world. If your winery does not produce a Merlot you can still join in by encouraging your fans to participate or feature blend that includes Merlot. Use the event to network and connect with other wine lovers!
Invite your twitter followers and Facebook fans to follow along by promoting through a FB and e-mail invite.
Encourage local wine lovers to join you at your winery to tweet about the event.
DM (Direct Message @nectarwine on Twitter) me the specifics about your Merlot (vintage, AVA, price, availability) and I’ll compile a list to assist with promotion.
Offer a promotion for those that order Merlot online or in your tasting room for this event.

Periodically tweet random facts and useful information about your winery, AVA, and Merlot
Be social (it is ‘social’ media) and reach out to people who are enjoying your wine or wine in your AVA. Enjoy cross promoting other Washington Wineries
