Walking While Black: L.O.V.E. is the Answer
Event Information
About this Event
For more than two years now, the award-winning film, WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer, which was partially filmed in Columbia and Baltimore, MD, has been transforming hearts and minds across the US. Film Director and former longtime Columbia resident A.J. Ali made the film to help bridge the police-community divide after experiencing racial profiling and harassment by members of the Howard County Police Department in 2012. In February 2017, the film's red carpet world premiere took place in Los Angeles and shortly after in Howard County. Just weeks after that screening, the Howard County Police Department, through the efforts of Major Luther Johnson, became the first police department in the nation to purchase a Lifetime Screening License to use the film for training their officers and for community dialogue events!
Fort Washington Collegiate Church will begin to put L.O.V.E. into action in NYC with a screening of the film, and a guided discussion.
