"You play fair with me, I'll play fair with you."

"Well, what am I supposed to do? You won't answer my calls, you change your number. I mean, I'm not gonna be ignored, Dan!"

Quotes from Fatal Attraction's Alex Forrest played by Glenn Close

"Just stop it" "Just don't do it" "You're doing it to get attention" "You're such a drama queen" "Psycho"

Working with some behavioral health issues and diagnoses are not for the faint of heart. Unfortunately, the media does no favors when portraying either mental health issue.

It is time to dispel the myths and get to the facts about Borderline Personality Disorder and Non-Suicidal Self-injury.

* Learn step by step process for having the conversation about a BPD diagnosis in a way that minimizes client defensiveness

* Incorporate transtheoretical strategies to promote insight and create motivation in resistant clients

* Understand 8 motivations for NSSI highly endorsed by clients with BPD and implications for effective intervention with each

* Utilize complex chain analysis to facilitate insight and break long-standing behavioral patterns

* Introduce schema modification interventions to create deeper level change that promotes positive outcomes and minimizes relapse

and MORE from Jeff's 3 books in the clinicaltoolboxset.com

*Identify the 20 different forms of Non-Suicidal Self-injury and the role of culture and religion

*Is it NSSI, art, or self-expression---the tattoo & piercing versus NSSI debate

*Be able to locate the lesser known areas on the body where harm takes place

*Get into the creative mind of someone that harms by seeing the tools in daily life that they do

*Understand the top 10 of 35 reasons why someone self-harms

*Be able to conduct a proper assessment between NSSI and SI

*How to respond to perceived manipulation & "attention-seeking" behaviors

*To Body Check or Not to Check,

and SO MUCH MORE from Lori's 1st book, A Caregiver's Guide to Self-injury, and some from her second book, A Practitioner's Guide to the Treatment of Self-injury.

*****It is recommended that if attendees are planning to go to Lori's NSSI Mastermind on the 17th and 18th, that they also attend this talk as a foundational piece***
