HomeStart is managed by the IFC (Interfaith Council), a non-profit social services organization of staff-volunteer partnerships, congregations, individuals and community coalitions.
"HomeStart provides 24-hour emergency and longer-term housing and services to homeless women and children. HomeStart's mission is to provide a safe, structured home for homeless women and children, helping them to access community resources and offering everyone on-going support to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.”
Domestic violence, eviction, unemployment, low-paying jobs, mental illness, lack of support services, family break up and substance abuse are just some of the reasons HomeStart residents find themselves homeless. A range of services including meals, social work, job coaching, health and mental health care are provided by the facility. Intensive case management serves as the key tool for helping families to achieve their goals of earning their own income and finding affordable childcare and housing.
