Walk Softly: Yoga and Our Future Ayurveda Meets Asana with Marc Holzman September 13-15, 2019 - Taos NM

About this Event

Walk Softly: A New Series from Shree

Shree Yoga is delighted to debut Walk Softly, a new seasonal workshop series that will bring masterful yoga teachers to Taos for a weekend of deep practice in community. Walk Softly explores the question: how do we create and access sustainable, world-class yoga that’s better for everyone, from practitioners to planet?

To Walk Softly is to be aware of where you place your feet and why; to move connected to something bigger than yourself, with the greater good in mind. Yoga, not just the image of today’s practice but rather the ancient whole practice of Yoga, teaches one how to Walk Softly in a raw and ever changing world.

Walk Softly honors Shree Yoga’s commitment to offering extraordinary yoga experiences for ordinary people. At a time when yoga is misconstrued as only for a certain type of person, of a certain age, wearing certain pants, in a certain environment, with certain music, this project is an opportunity to bring into the fold those that don’t fit or don’t want to fit into a certain mold.

Walk Softly launches September 13 – 15, 2019. Our inaugural weekend will be led by Marc Holzman, a certified Ayurveda practitioner with over 15 years experience teaching Hatha Yoga and Meditation. An avid truth-seeker and playful risk-taker, Marc is passionate about refining the art of living and empowering his students to do the same.

Early Bird tickets are available! Sign up today for the full weekend, or choose a la carte classes that fit into your schedule. Scroll down to find full class details.

Ayurveda Meets Asana: What does HOME mean for you?

Often there is a longing to return to a place that feels familiar and anchored. There may even be a tinge of nostalgia which carries with it a bittersweet sensation in the Heart. Ayurvedically, as we enter the Autumn season, the energy of Vata becomes prevalent causing us to feel ungrounded and homeless in the body/mind/heart. It’s at this time that we turn towards practices that stabilize the volatile elements of Air and Space.

Marc will guide you through a Vata-pacifying practice of warmth, steadiness, and grounding; a practice to welcome you home into each and every cell, and fully into the space that surrounds you.

Register now for the full weekend and save!

  • FRIDAY EVENING, 5PM – 7:30PM: HIP OPENERS, FORWARD BENDS AND YOGA NIDRA: After a short Ayurveda lecture, a slow, deliberate practice of great depth to stabilize Vata and a Nidra to guide you deep into your Heart. Purchase only this class.
  • SATURDAY MORNING, 9AM – 11:30AM: FIVE KOSHA CLEANSING AND BACKBENDS: Learn how to cleanse all five of your ‘bodies’ and bathe in a nourishing, dynamic backbend practice emphasizing foundation and grounding to keep you stable and safe. Purchase only this class.
  • SATURDAY AFTERNOON, 2PM – 4:30PM: AMPLIFY PRANA WITH GENTLE TWISTS, HIP OPENERS, PRANAYAMA, MEDITATION AND MANTRA : Prana is where Ayurveda and Yoga truly meet. This refreshing practice will light you up, cool you down, and welcome you Home. Purchase only this class.
