The goal of the "Walk in Purpose" Leadership Summer Program for Girls is to offer a holistic leadership and character education initiative inspired by our vision to connect people with their life's purpose. The Outcome: Our desire is that this leadership and character education initiative will be duplicated in communities across the United States. The outcome will be the development of young servant leaders who are committed to using their skills and resources for the greater good of humanity. This includes cultivating the minds and shaping the hearts of young leaders so they develop clear vision and focus for their academic growth, spiritual maturity, society-advancing contributions, and improved employability credentials.

1. What sets this program experience apart from other summer programs?
This program is a unique and holistic leadership, mentoring, and character development initiative of Leadership LINKS, Inc., an organization founded and led by veterans with over 100 years of collective leadership experience between them. As a faith-based organization, we offer role models and mentors with significant leadership experience in academia, elementary and secondary education, military, corporate, government, nonprofit and church leadership. This unique, hands-on, one-week initiative directly supports our mission to offer leadership education that facilitates impactful living, character, and spiritual development.
2. How old does my child have to be in order to attend the program?
The "Walk in Purpose" Leadership Summer Program for Girls 2017 is designed for rising 7th and 10th graders that aspire to lead or have discerned their leadership potential.
3. What are the operating hours of the program?
The program experience will began with an orientation for all program participants and their guardians on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 5:00-6:30 pm. This orientation is required and includes, final registration/check-in, safety regulations and protocol, leadership team assignments, and a parent/guardian Q&A with designated Leadership LINKS, Inc. board members.
The program will commence from Monday, July 31, 2017 through Friday, August 4, 2017. Program hours are from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. Drop off can begin at 7:30 am. All program participants MUST be picked up no later than 6:00 pm. Transportation will not be provided.
4. What is the curriculum at your program?
Each day opens and closes with prayer and devotion or personal reflection. Mornings will consist of a theme-focused general session, larger group learning, and practical leadership reinforcements. Afternoons will consist of specialized explorations in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), business and entrepreneurship, military and government, media and arts; small group workshops, team building exercises, and leadership team projects. Impactful leaders and historical figures will be highlighted throughout the week. Leadership experts will visit with the program participants and provide mentorship opportunities, testimonies, and life lessons. The program will conclude with program participants displaying their team business projects, project awards and recognitions, and a closing celebration.
The closing celebration will be held on Friday, August 4, 2016 at The Point College Preparatory and Leadership Academy auditorium between 4:30-5:45 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
5. How do I know that my child is safe while I am at work?
All Leadership LINKS program executive staff will be required to complete a background check. No executive or support staff member will be left alone with a single participant at any given time. All of our staff have been trained in protocol on the best way to ensure the safety and protection of both participants and staff.
6. What does program registration cover? Can I get a refund? What if I can't afford to pay?
Registration covers the entire program experience, Leadership LINKS t-shirts, along with lunch and two snacks each day. The cost of the program has already been significantly discounted thanks to the generous support and donations from our sponsors. No further discounts will be offered.
Registrants assume the risk of changes in personal schedules or health. Refunds will be approved through written/electronic notification of requests received at least thirty (30) working days prior to scheduled start of the program, and refunds will be provided no later than twenty (20) days after the completion of the program. A $15 administrative processing fee + an Eventbrite possessing fee (if applicable) will be deducted from the total refund.
Students who are in need and are interested in scholarship considerations, please visit our official website at www.leadershiplinksus.org and complete the scholarship application process. All scholarship applications are due by close of business on April 28, 2017. Note: Completing the application does not guaranteee an award or registration acceptance. However, registering early for both the program and the scholarship application will show great leadership initiative and increase the possibility of your receiving an early decision.
7. Is there a dress code?
Girls should dress appropriately for a Christian-based, leadership focused setting. Clothing should not be distracting, revealing or otherwise offensive. The following articles of clothing are strictly prohibited: tank tops, short skirts or short shorts (cargo and/or “boy shorts” that are approaching the knee are an appropriate consideration), and any midriff or exposing attire. If a program participant arrives inappropriately dressed, her parent/guardian will be contacted and asked to pick her up. She will not be allowed to participate in the day’s learning events.
We will take a individual photographs during Sunday's orientation and a group picture will be taken at some point during the week. Be advised that your registration confirmation handbook will include release forms for media permissions and other details pertinent to the program.
