Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. is an organization committed to empowering women while abiding by our sorority’s five founding principles: academics, community service, cultural awareness, morals and ethics, and social interaction. Since their charter in 2002 at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), the sisters of the "Honorable" Omicron Beta Chapter have dedicated countless efforts to build a presence in both the Arlington and UTA community.
Our sorority actively supports the important societal issue of Breast Cancer Awareness. Breast Cancer is a sickness that consumes thousands of lives yearly.
- In the United States, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with some type of breast cancer in her lifetime.
- Each year it is estimated that over 230,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.
- Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,350 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 440 will die each year
