About this Event

Are you committed to keeping the Hill Country’s rolling hills and quality of life here forever? Are you an avid hiker or biker on the Violet Crown Trail, or excited by a first of its kind regional trail system? Maybe you are curious about the work of Hill Country Conservancy?

Join us for our HCC Walk & Talk!

The Violet Crown Trail makes its way from Zilker Park to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center winding in and out of the woods and urban areas of Austin. It's invigoratingly steep in places and meandering in others. Every moment spent on the Violet Crown Trail is a moment of adventure, fresh air, beauty, stress reduction, and so much more.

On this Walk-and-Talk, Hill Country Conservancy staff and our guest docent from Save Barton Creek Association, Sarah Larocca will lead you through one of the most popular sections of the Violet Crown Trail. An easy access trail, right in the center of town, this section of the trail has magnificent rock structures, and beautiful landscapes. Loop 360 is also the main access point for the climbing destination Seismic Wall and is very popular for mountain biking. On this tour we will walk you through the history of the area, interesting facts about the trail, and a discussion of plants and wildlife along the trail.

About Sarah Larocca:

Growing up on the Texas coast helped foster a deep appreciation in Sarah for Texas animals, waterways, and ecosystems. Her path led her to study biology earning an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and later a Masters from Texas State. Sarah started her career in biotechnology, and in 2018 began shifting her professional focus to projects that allowed her to apply her skills at the intersection of biology, science, technology, and land stewardship. She spends her free time hiking with her dogs, photographing and studying flora and fauna, and creating native Texas habitats. She also volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in the insectary, and with the City of Austin - Wildlands Conservation Division.
