There’s something about water. Something that calms us, comforts us, challenges us, deepens us. Water can be both powerful and gentle. Life-giving and life-destroying. Clarifying and puzzling. Water is so significant spiritually that it is the source of important rituals and traditions in almost every major religion.

Join Potomac Conservancy, The Center for Spirituality in Nature, and Interfaith Power and Light DC.MD.NoVA as we walk along the Potomac River and explore the spiritual importance of water – and how it affects not just us, but all the creatures and plants that share the Potomac River Basin with us. We’ll have some conversation, share some reflections, pause for some quiet time, get some exercise and have some fun.

We will be walking on the Billy Goat Trail B (that’s the more moderate one!) through floodplain forest and along the river for about 2.5 miles. While the trail is not as arduous as the well-known Billy Goat Trail A, it does have some hill-climbing and uneven surfaces, and some rock scrambling is required (see pictures below). If you are concerned about your physical ability to complete this hike, please let us know and we can help you decide if this hike is a good match for you. If you are physically unable to join us but would be interested in attending on a less strenuous trail, please contact us. Depending on demand, we may be able to add additional walks to this series.

See you there!

The program will be facilitated by Beth Norcross, Director of the Center for Spirituality in Nature, Adjunct Professor at Wesley Theological Seminary and Chair, Interfaith Power and Light DC.MD.NoVA.
