Here's How It Works...

Animal Adoption Foundation (AAF), Provides You With:

1. Enthusiastic Shelter Dogs who need a walk or jog with you!

(Trained volunteers will prescreen dogs, then leash up dogs and bring dogs outside to participating volunteers)

2. Outdoor Space to Walk/Jog/Hang-out with Our Shelter Dogs: On premise walking paths allow you to get as much exercise with a dog as you want in a 1-hour session. Or choose to spend time with dogs in the dog play yards. Please note:

  • Sessions are open to all community members  and AAF volunteers;
  • Participants under age 15 years must be accompanied by an adult who is willing to be the primary walker; and,
  • For safety reasons, space is limited to 8 volunteers;
  • Sign-up for one or multiple sessions.

How Do I Get Involved?

In recognition of "National Walk Your Dog Week", AAF has a week of fun stuff planned) as part of the WAH program. For example: at the end of each WAH session, we will have a drawing for FREE t-shirt; we will also have special appreciation tokens for ALL participants.  To register for a session of WAH and/or for more details, follow the link below: http://walkahoundataaf-eorg.eventbrite.com/

Background: According to Animal Rescuer, Colleen Page, who started the National Walk Your Dog Week, "Having trained thousands of dogs in the last 20 years, it's my estimation that at least 75% of the dogs in shelter's are there due to lack of exercise, which has resulted in serious behavior issues such as aggression, destruction, and separation anxiety issues.... Walking dogs not only increases the endorphins in both human and canine brains, it improves the bond between the two".

So come be a part of the solution by helping AAF's shelter dogs as part of the Walk a Hound program. PLEASE consider picking a date and time for any time Sept 30-Oct. 6 to participate in the festivities! Thanks!
