Humaira Hamid - Dance Instructor

Humaira is as comfortable teaching to a global crowd of thousands and performing to Bollywood beats on the international stage as she is bopping around solo in her living room - and everything in between. Drum-beats tug at her soul, and she can't help but move to a pulse, be it African, Indian, Latin, or any of the countless others. She knows that everyone can dance: movement is self-expression, and you can't "do it wrong" when it comes to essence. As a self-taught dancer, one of her favorite things to do is help others uncover and step in to their own personal flavor, whether that's subtle or larger than life.

FAQ

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Wear whatever you feel most comfortable dancing in for a few hours. You’ll likely be sweating and want some ability to move your body. If you’re coming for yoga, you know what to wear. We also fully encourage creative attire - minus anything that could cause injury to others.

WHAT ARE WE DOING EXACTLY?

Here are short videos on how to dance and how to do yoga.

WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?

After the cost of the event is covered, we will donate one third of the proceeds to charities and non-profits that align with the mission of our event to support the health and well-being and young professionals in Vancouver. The remaining funds will go towards hosting future events. If a second event does not happen, the remaining funds will be donated.

IS ALCOHOL PERMITTED?

NO. There is zero tolerance for the consumption of alcohol. This is not an after-party, it’s a pre-work party. We actually want you to go to work afterwards, and be productive - even more productive than on most days.

WHERE IS IT?

We’re hosting the event at the beautiful Beaumont Studios, located two blocks from the Olympic Village Canada Line station. It has a spacious room with tons of space for getting your dance on, and a powerful music system to get you grooving and showered with bass.

WHO IS ORGANIZING THIS?

We’re a group of local young professionals who simply wanted to create a fun event that would help contribute to the health and well being of our peers. If this event gets you as excited as we are, we’d love to connect as we want to see these types of events happen more often, and be as accessible as possible.

We’ve reached out to local companies, and talented individuals to help us organize this event, and we could not have done it without their support.
