Wajeedah has been described many times as the vocal stylist with the rich silky tone. She has brought together Neo-Soul, Jazz and R&B into every song that she sings to create her unique vocal style. Wajeedah is a balladeer, very sensual with her deep raspy voice, which has also been described as mesmerizing and with every note she sings, you feel it, you will believe the story and leave inspired. Additionally, she is versatile enough to bring the heat with up-tempo beats.
Wajeedah (which means compassionate) was raised with 3 other siblings by her grandmother in San Francisco, California. Her entire family has been blessed with the gift of music. Like most singers, her beginnings and musical roots were gospel at the age of 5. She began her musical career singing in church, talent shows and later landed a recording contract with Warner Brothers, Elektra Asylum Records under the Production of the Myzell Brothers. Recently, she has been pursuing an independent vocal career. Her journey has led her to recording with Lester Abrams, (songwriter of "Minute by Minute" recorded by the Doobie Brothers), and studio sessions with Maria Maldaur and Hugh Masakela.
As an international vocalist, Wajeedah performed at the Vina Del Mar Festival in Santiago, Chili where she had the opportunity to share the stage with Donna Summer, Placido Domingo, Eddy Xol, and Ricky Martin. She has been a guest vocalist on many stages, such as Roy Ayers, Frankye Kelley, Charlene Moore, Tuck and Patti, just to name a few. Recently, Wajeedah returned from New Caledonia for their Blues and Jazz Festival. Currently, she is working on her debut CD, slated to be released in late 2015.
