Event description

Description

In many religious traditions, water plays an essential spiritual role. The physical life-giving aspects of water combine with a sense of connectedness with each other, with other creatures and with Spirit. Please join us in partnership with the Patuxent Riverkeeper as we explore these important connections with a day of spiritual storytelling and service along the Patuxent River.

Our journey will begin with a brief introduction to the rich human and ecological history of the Patuxent, then plunge into helping to restore the river by planting native plants along its banks. We’ll then share in a light lunch on the dock of the Patuxent Riverkeeper’s waterfront house and hear from an ethnically diverse group of people who have carved out their spiritual stories along the river, including a local waterman, a Native American healer and a local farmer. Bring your own spiritual stories of the importance of water in your life, and we will open things up for a casual, and undoubtedly lively, dialogue along the banks of the Patuxent.
