This family-friendly event has something for everyone! At VolunteerWNY: Why Not You Awards not only will you have the opportunity to honor local volunteers and show your support but you also have the opportunity to explore our volunteer fair as well as volunteer on the spot! Your ticket includes appetizers and a cash bar for those 21 years of age and older.
Over 25 local non-profit organizations will be available to answer your questions and share their upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Attendees will work together to assemble Personal Care Bags for Homeless and At-Risk Populations in WNY. The Care Bags will provide the necessities and comfort items to adults and children who are in crisis due to homelessness. The Care Bags will available at outreach events such as Project Homeless Connect Buffalo and Project Connect Niagara.
But let's not forget about the awards! At our first annual volunteer recognition awards ceremony we will honor volunteers in the following categories:
President's Volunteer Service Award
The President's Volunteer Service Award was created to thank and honor Americans whose volunteer service inspires others to volunteer. VolunteerWNY will honor up to 5 young adults (16-25) and up to 5 adults (26 and older) that have served a minimum of 100 hours through a VolunteerWNY partner organization last year.
Commitment to Service Award
The Commitment to Service Award recognizes a company, public official, or community leader for their outstanding efforts to promote & encourage volunteerism and service.
Outstanding Non-Profit Volunteer Program (or Project)
The Outstanding Non-Profit Volunteer Program (or Project) award will recognize a non-profit organization (501(c)3), municipality, government or service-learning program that has made significant changes and improvements in the condition of the community as a result of volunteering.
Excellence in Volunteer Administration
The Excellence in Volunteer Administration award recognizes excellence in leadership of volunteers and administration of volunteer programs by a salaried or non-salaried professional.
