Description

Please join us as we dedicate the Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge Drop-in Center to the memory of David Jackson O'Quin.

The program will include the unveiling of the new signage and a memorial plaque and will feature speakers including Volunteers of America national President & CEO Mike King, Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge President & CEO Janet Pace, and members of the O'Quin family.

About David: David Jackson O’Quin (1971-2013) was a beloved son, brother and artist. David was a graduate of the University of Texas, receiving bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Fine Arts. He also held a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA. When David began to have symptoms of mental illness as a young adult, his whole life changed. He spent many nights on the streets with his dog, Bogie, and sometimes received services at Volunteers of America’s Drop-in Center. David died February 26, 2013 after losing a long-term battle against schizophrenia. He was 41 years old.
