Event description

Description

At this event, we will take turns reading the Frederick Douglass speech, "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"

Each person will read a different paragraph of this historical speech that still resonates in this 2019.

We are looking for 50 volunteer readers. Arrive at 6:30 PM. Reading will begin at 7:00 PM.

We will have a discussion moderated by Kevin Dua, 2017 MA History Teacher of the Year, addressing topics such as how the impacts of slavery are still felt today and the ways in which race plays a role in our current lives.

This event is a collaboration between Courageous Conversations, Mass Humanities and Celebrate Milton!

You are not required to present tickets for entrance to this event, but we ask that you RSVP through this site.
