Event description

Description

Techtonica is a nonprofit that partners with companies to offer tech training and job placement to Bay Area women and non-binary adults with low incomes.

Can you help Techtonica's apprentices with their technical or non-technical interview preparation for 2-3 hours at a time? We're seeking volunteers to help with the following tasks and at the following times:

Non-technical interviewing from 10 AM - 12 PM:

  • Monday, 9/30

  • Wednesday, 10/2

Technical interviewing from 2 - 5 PM:

  • Wednesday, 10/2

  • Thursday, 10/17

  • Thursday, 10/31 (Halloween—feel free to dress up!)

For the non-technical interviews, we encourage you to do kind of a phone screen. Look at each person’s resume, ask questions about their experience, and give tips on how to make their resumes stronger.

For the technical interviews, bring some full-stack JavaScript web development questions (but please stay away from data structures and algorithms). You can also:

  • Have interviewees work through a code challenge
  • Bring some JavaScript code for them to look at and ask them questions about it
  • Look at their GitHub account with them and ask questions about their code

If you have not yet signed up to volunteer with Techtonica, you'll need to fill out our volunteer form at bit.ly/volunteer-with-Techtonica.

Please bring a laptop and be ready to abide by Techtonica's code of conduct.
