Volunteer at the 3rd Annual Pedal through Petals! This year, our event will be bigger and better, and we need more volunteers than ever. Thank you for helping in the cause of curing cancer. All proceeds of the event go to Massey Cancer Center, which is doing lifesaving research right here in RVA.
The event is headquartered this year on Clay Street, just in front of the Valentine Museum. (We will call it "Party Central"). Car traffic will be blocked off from this street during the event. All the activities will take place outdoors, though we'll have the chance to tour the Valentine Museum.
The day before, we'll need some help stuffing bags and getting ready for the event.
On event day, volunteers will arrive early to set up and get ready. Registration starts at 8, and we'll do the first part of the raffle then, too. The riders start in waves at 10 am,with everyone off by 11am. Riders will start coming back around noon, with the second part of the raffle occuring then.
We will need help throughout the event, both at Party Central and out on the ride course (where we'll need docents). And of course we need ride leaders.
We promise to do a better job this year of feeding our volunteers breakfast and lunch. Volunteers get a free raffle ticket, free beer ticket and a Massey t-shirt.
Proceeds from Pedal through Petals are for the benefit of VCU Massey Cancer Center, and will be used for life-saving research. This is an event of Amy's Army of 100+ Cancer Warriors.
Amy, a partner at Hunton & Williams law firm, was treated at Massey Cancer Center in 2011 for breast cancer. She credits her survival to Massey. She led a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle until 10 years ago. Now she is an endurance athlete. She has formed Amy's Army to raise funds for and awareness of Massey Cancer Center.
Massey Cancer Center works to make important discoveries about cancer, and to translate these discoveries rapidly into better prevention, detection, treatment and control of cancer.
