Volunteers will help remove invasive plant species in our Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve!

About this Event

Join fellow volunteers to help remove invasive plant species in our Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve. Invasive plants, like garlic mustard, inhibit the growth of native wildflowers. You can help ensure that beautiful ephemeral species like Dutchman's breaches, spring beauty, and Virginia bluebells can flourish and be enjoyed by our community and visitors this spring.

Parking & Directions

We will be meeting at the Lancaster Conservancy parking area along Green Hill Rd. (39.905806, -76.368167) All volunteers should enter the property via Green Hill Rd S. from the north.

What to Expect

We will be using our hands and weeding tools to remove Garlic Mustard and other invasive plants from the Wildflower Preserve. Volunteers can expect a total hike of 1-2 miles over sometimes rough terrain and may need to kneel or bend for most of our effort.

What to Wear & Bring

Volunteers must wear long pants, sturdy shoes and are encourage to wear long sleeves that they don't mind getting dirty. Please consider bringing your own reusable water bottle.

Gloves, water, and snacks will be provided.

Physical Difficulty Level: 3 (scale of 1-5)
