On behalf of the Minnesota Avenue Main Street (MAMS), a program of the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (Wacif), we would like to invite you to attend the Minnesota Avenue Main Street Volunteer Information Sessions on Zoom.
MAMS is instrumental in bringing the community together through its neighborhood activations. We work with small businesses along the Minnesota Avenue Mainstreet Corridor and help them build resilience. MAMS also supports the corridor by assisting companies in creating and retaining the jobs that anchor the Ward 7 community, 80% of whom are underserved small business owners. MAMS is uniquely positioned to embrace brick-and-mortar businesses, providing an opportunity for pop-up shops and highlighting the vast creative market in this region.
We encourage you to join MAMS as a volunteer at several events scheduled to take place this year. Sign up to attend our information sessions to:
- Meet the Program Manager, Samantha Archibald, a certified planner passionate about strategic planning and urban revitalization with a people-first, place-based approach. Over the past 17 years, she has gained deep experience and leadership in the community, economic development, and program management in the public sector;
- Hear about Minnesota Avenue Main Street's program events for 2023; and
- Learn about volunteer and leadership opportunities.

About the organizer
The Minnesota Avenue Main Street (MAMS) is an initiative to promote, revitalize, and develop the Minnesota Avenue corridor, one of the largest historic commercial districts located east of the Anacostia River. Downtown Ward 7, centered where Minnesota Avenue NE meets Benning Road NE, is home to the Art Deco Senator Theater ad the recently renovated neighborhood library named after famed Civil Rights and Women’s Rights activist Dorothy I. Height. The neighborhood has experienced significant growth with new and planned developments including the mixed-use Park 7 and a revitalized Minnesota Avenue Metro station.
