Event description

Description

Be a Water Quality Monitoring Volunteer! Attend one of the training dates to get certified.

Water Quality Monitoring is vital to achieving our goal of making the Potomac swimmable!

PRKN is participating in this year’s Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring. This program is funded by DC’s Department of Energy and Environment and it’s an important first step in determining bacterial levels present in the Potomac River. Our ultimate goal is to make the river swimmable again.

Join our partners, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Audubon Naturalist Society, Rock Creek Conservancy, and Anacostia Riverkeeper.

Monitoring starts the first week of May 2019 and ends in September 2019. The testing usually takes place between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesdays or Thursdays.

Anyone over 18 or kids with a parent can volunteer to be a water monitor, but monitors must attend at least one training session in order to be certified.
