Event description

Description

Become a volunteer with Behind the Book, a non-profit literacy organization that inspires New York City public school students to love reading. Through our rich, innovative programs, which are taught as part of the class curricula, accomplished authors visit high-needs pre-K-12th-grade classrooms to guide students in creating their own writing and art projects.

You need no experience or training to volunteer. As a writing, research, or art coach, you'll engage and encourage students as they work on their creative projects.

The classroom workshop below needs your help next month in Washington Heights. To volunteer, please reply with the program code to volunteer@behindthebook.org:

Program DEPK1219 (3rd grade class)

Date & Time: Monday, December 19th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM
Volunteer Role: Research Coach
Book & Author: Drumbeat in Our Feet by Patricia Keeler
