Event description
Volunteer your skills at esa's do + brew, a DIY party and clothing swap allowing you to dip your toes in mending your closet!

About this Event

esa new york is a grassroots organization mending the disconnect with our relationship to clothing and the fashion industry, through the power of community, experiences, and education.

We’re here to do 3 things:

1)Raise awareness about the fashion industry’s impact on people and the planet.

2)Empower you to take matters into your own hands with easy yet powerful actions and equip you with tools to sustain those actions.

3)Fuel the conscious consumer movement to spark real and lasting change.

Ultimately, esa believes we, everyday-jean-wearing people, have the collective power to hold corporations accountable creating a world that works for and supports everyone.

On Sunday, February 23, 2020 we'll hold our 7th do+brew event, a d.i.y. party that teaches D.I.Y. and mending tutorials, saving unwanted clothing from hitting landfills! In Winter 2019 we saved over 1,000 lbs of garments from landfill. This year our goal is 2,000 lbs saved from landfill. Want to be part of making this goal possible? Sign up to volunteer! We are a 100% volunteer-run organization so your support is vital to making this happen.

do + brew 2020 activities include a: Clothing Swap, Denim Revamp Station, Mending station: learn to sew on a button, patch a hole and be able to have an experienced sewer take your mend order for you, Knit Stitch Station: learn how to mend knit holes, Indigo Dying + Painting Station: Naturally tie dye with Indigo Dye and paint designs on your clothes with the help of artists, and lastly a Community Table where you can get adventurous and try various tutorials esa offered in the past or anything you have in mind with expert sewers on stand by to lend tips!
