Event description

Description

Would you like to make a difference in someone's life? Be a part of their journey? Empower another through a shared love of endurance sports? The Athletes With Disabilities Network Northeast Chapter is looking for SIGHTED GUIDES to partner up with athletes who are Visually Impaired/Blind.

What is a Sighted Guide? Basically, it is an athlete who literally guides another athlete who has visual impairments through an endurance event (anything from a 5K to a triathlon). Depending on the level of vision impairment and/or comfort of the athlete, this can be accomplished by using either vocal cues, tapping, leading by the elbow or being joined together by a tether.

The AWD Network is seeking guides of ALL fitness levels! Do not worry that you are "too slow" or have no guiding experience. You will be trained and matched with an athlete who shares your pace and race "personality."

Please sign up here, and you will be contacted via email to gather more specific information required for athlete matching!
