Event description

Description

With thousands of youth in Washington D.C out of school and not working, the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative is committed to investing in the region and connecting youth to employment and educational opportunities. As a first step, this employer-led coalition is partnering with dozens of non-profit organizations and other key community partners to host the 6th Opportunity Fair on September 20, 2017 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

It will be an inspirational day of connection and empowerment to over 1500 young adults. Over 400 volunteers, along with 20 leading employers and a full suite of services will aim to provide inspiration and help break down barriers to meaningful opportunities for youth.

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING?

We are looking for hundreds of volunteers to support the Opportunity Fair on September 20, 2017 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Volunteer roles include:

  • Helping young adults plan their day and access resources
  • Check-in and welcome
  • Greeter and fair navigators
  • Conducting mock interviews
  • Coaching for resumes and applications, and generally creating a welcoming and supportive environment for young adults
