Volunteer: KCD & CitySoil Farm Work and Learn Party

Come learn and farm with King Conservation District at King County Wastewater South Treatment Plant’s CitySoil Farm! Don't miss this fun event that combines hands-on learning and volunteering. After a hands-on lesson on the farm about soil health and nutrient testing, we will do some work to help support food production that goes to White Center Food Bank. Take home some cover crop seeds and fresh herbs grown at CitySoil!

On Saturday, June 29 learn key components of soil health. Run through basic field tests for physical properties or soil with your hands in the dirt. We will also learn how to take soil samples and understand basic soil nutrient analysis reports from the lab. Learn how to take a soil sample at home and it will be tested for FREE through KCD soil testing program.

CitySoil Farm is an urban space devoted to environmental education and resource recycling to promote community food systems with imagination. Our mission is to help people make informed decisions and develop innovative solutions for food challenges.

What to Bring:

Work clothes ready for the weather, closed-toed shoes, a water bottle, lunch or a dish to share, utensils and a bowl or plate (I will bring a large salad or dish made from farm veggies) and an extra bag to take home herbs and cover crop seed.

Directions:

CitySoil Farm is located on the southeast corner of a 90-acre industrial utility. This means that the physical address doesn't really match the mailing address. The address to the King County South Treatment Plant, 1200 Monster Road and will take you to a gate that is not near the farm. However, 1300 SW Grady Way is the closest approximation to a physical address.
