Good Neighbor EQUIP Training (11:00am - 1:00pm)
Good Neighbors get to know a refugee family and help them adapt to America by providing consistent friendship, cultural empowerment, practicing English and helping out with practical advice about American life.
During the Good Neighbor EQUIP Training portion we will be walking through scnearios focused on Empowerement Principles and Cultural and Religious Senstivity.
Here are some ways you can help welcome refugees right now before you attend this training:
Learn – In the new book Seeking Refuge: On the Shores of the Global Refugee Crisis the authors draw from history, public policy, psychology, many personal stories, and their own unique Christian worldview, the authors offer a nuanced and compelling portrayal of the plight of refugees and the extraordinary opportunity we have to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Advocate - Call your Senator and Congressional representatives to tell them you are in support of refugee resettlement in the U.S., and encourage your family, friends, church or school to rally behind the cause and do the same. Visithttp://www.worldrelief.org/advocate to learn more.
Pray - We invite you to join us in praying for the programs, staff, volunteers and church partners of World Relief. And most of all, we invite you to pray for the millions of vulnerable people around the world. Pray that God would meet their immediate needs, sustain them, and transform their lives and communities.
