Due to the damage from Hurricane Sandy, we've updated our Door Project to being a general clean-up of the entire Gowanus reuse center. We'll be cleaning up on Saturday from 10am to 5pm (we don't have power, but we have running water!). Lunch will be included for all volunteers.
Join BIG!NYC in Gowanus (69 9th St. Brooklyn NY 11215) for our Volunteer Door Day Part II.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and wear clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dusty.
When & Where
Build It Green!NYC
Build It Green! NYC (www.bignyc.org), is New York City's only non-profit retail outlet for salvaged and surplus building materials. Our warehouse has everything from panel doors to high end refrigerators and shutters to movie props. Our mission is to keep these materials out of the landfill, while offering deep discounts on their resale. We are sponsored by Community Environmental Center (CEC) www.cecenter.org. Founded in late 2004, our Astoria warehouse opened in February of 2005. Our second reuse center opened in November 2011 and is now open seven days a week in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
We have over 75 tons of materials on sale at half or below their new prices:
• sinks, bathtubs and toilets
• trim, moulding
• metal studs
• marble, granite
• and much, much more...
