Description
Voices on the Green is a Friday night performance series developed by First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Lexington Green. Each event in the series is built around a central theme relevant to the local community. Proceeds are shared with a community service partner that compliments the program. April's theme is “Balancing on the Hyphen,” an exploration of the challenges and rewards for people of multicultural heritages living or studying in Lexington. Our community service partner is Lexington Youth and Family Services.
This program features personal stories by Lexington residents Lawrence Prusak, Shawna Yen, Marjan Kamli, Mona Tavangar and Austin Fowlkes. Lexington resident Dr. Mary Brinton, Chair of the Harvard University Sociology Department, will present a brief scholarly talk expanding on the theme. Woven throughout the program will be several musical performances by Lexington High School choral singers and the Paint Mine Medicine Show band, all led by Geoff Keith, LYFS board member.
Doors open at 6:30pm. An intermission will allow for conversation with refreshments and music.
