What’s up family?

Here we are, back, with another dope Poetry Open Mic Experience held monthly in Philly at our home REC Philly. This isn’t your typical open mic so grab your tickets and come find out why.

Our Poetry Open Mic Experiences are pure fire, as usual, and SELL OUT every month. The room is filled with beautiful people, amazing talent, great food, dope music, and the energy was high. If you were in the building, you already know. And it’s time to do it again.

So, let’s get to the details:

Saturday, July 2nd, at 6:00 PM the doors over at REC Philly will open. REC Philly is located inside of the old Gallery, currently Fashion District, on the second floor right next to Shoppers World. The doors close at 8:00 PM. We cannot allow anyone into the space after that time. Please plan accordingly.

We kick the night off with some music, networking, eating, and open mic list sign ups. At around 6:45 PM, our host, Luis Marrero, will hop on the mic to kick the night off.

We will have DJ G33k keeping the vibes high with music, plus vendors, visual artists, food and dessert vendors, and a featured poet for the night . And of course, most of the night gets dedicated to the poets who signed up. We will have some competitions throughout the night, to add some fun and engagement with the audience and many moments of laughs, love, and dancing. At 10:00 PM we will wrap the night up, and send you off… until next time.

That’s pretty much it, on paper, to say the least. But again, these aren’t just “open mic nights” so don’t get it twisted if this is your first time. We turn up and the vibe is everything.

With that said, tickets will sell out so grab them today and meet us there. The cameras will be out so get fly and let’s make memories together.

And remember, this is family. Come connect with some beautiful people and let it change your life.

For ARTISTS interested in performing:

We will have a 20 slot sign up sheet for the night. This is all we can fit and will do for the night. Please note, not everyone will be able to make the list due to the amount of artists who come to perform.

This is a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. Once the list is filled, we cannot allow any more sign ups due to time.

Please note: each artist gets ONE piece within a 5 minute time slot.

Please note something else: please understand the list WILL fill within the first 10-15 minutes of the doors opening, due to the amount of artists who come to our open mics. Please do not be upset and do not approach our team trying to get on the mic. This puts our team and host in an uncomfortable and unfair position. Once the list is full, the list will close. No Exceptions. Thank you for understanding.

2nd floor of the Fashion District. Main Entrance on 9th, off of Market is how you enter. After 8:00 PM, you must enter through RECs After Hours entrance (colorful door on 9th St between Market and Filbert.

Head up the escalator and it will be on your right.

Time: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM (doors close at 8:00 PM)

Dress Code: However you want to dress, just be you and be fly

Please note: We are a poetry only open mic experience, meaning we do not allow any other type of performances but poetry. No music is allowed, whether live or on a track, no comedians, no singers, etc. We know our heart is for poetry and we want to create a space for our poets.
