Description

Urban human services pioneer Rev. Faith Fowler headlines this interfaith prayer breakfast and celebration.

Gather with new and old friends from all faiths to pray, share food, and to listen to Rev. Fowler's inspiring message.

Using local organic ingredients, Chef Annabel Cohen will make a breakfast for every religious diet.

Interfaith clergy will lead prayers for people and planet.

You will leave with a full belly, happy heart, inspired mind, and a larger family of faith.


About Rev. Faith Fowler

Rev. Faith Fowler is pastor of Cass Community United Methodist Church and founder/executive director of Cass Community Social Services (CCSS), a nonprofit agency that provides food, housing, medical, mental health, and employment programs for people living in areas of concentrated poverty. Rev. Fowler has served the church and CCSS since 1994.

Rev. Fowler helped found Cass Green Industries in 2007 to create jobs for unemployed and underemployed Detroiters. Cass Green Industries makes consumer products from recycled and repurposed materials founds on vacant lots in Detroit.

Rev. Fowler also started a community of "tiny homes" to provide affordable and sustainable housing solutions for Detroit's homeless and homeless-endangered families.

In addition to her work at Cass, Rev. Fowler has served as a board member of the Cass Corridor Neighborhood Development Corporation, an advisory board member of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging, and a board member and trustee on the General Board of Church and Society. She is an Albion College trustee.

In 2014, Rev. Fowler founded Cass Community Publishing House. She authored two books: This Far by Faith: Twenty Years at Cass Community and Tiny Homes in a Big City.

Rev. Fowler graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Albion College. She received the Master of Divinity from the Boston University School of Theology and Master of Public Admininstration from the University of Michigan Dearborn. She currently serves as an adjunct professors at U-M Dearborn.

Rev. Fowler's interests include reading, running, the environment, and travel. She has finished the Boston Marathon four times. Her travels have taken her to Zimbabwe, Liberia, Australia, South Korea, Russia, and many countries in Europe. She frequently speaks to religious, civic, corporate, and academic groups. Rev. Fowler has lived in Detroit for 30 years.

She recently sold her Victorian house in Corktown to live and participate in life with people residing on the CCSS campus and in the tiny home community.
